A textile in the heart of patients
Begun in 2015, the MIVANA project achieves its second success with the first implantation of the adjustable mitral ring on a human patient a few months after implantation on sheep!
Kalios, this innovative KEPHALIOS mitral valve repair device, developed within the MIVANA consortium, represents a significant technological advance in the field of cardiac surgery.
Conducted in Vienna, Austria, on January 1st, this first implantation of the mitral ring positions this new surgical strategy as a significant improvement compared to the current treatments thanks to an optimized fit of the implant over the long term adapted to each patient.
The MIVANA consortium, in which MDB Texinov is involved in the design of new implantable textile technologies realized in ISO 7 clean room, continues to study mitral insufficiency cases in order to propose innovative functional solutions for the cardiovascular sector.
